The Stone County sheriff's department is investigating an accidental shooting on Saturday July 17th at a home on State Highway AA.
First responders found a 50-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the jaw at 74437 State Highway AA. The man was transported to a Springfield hospital where it was determined that the bullet had lodged near his left ear.
While on the scene, deputies found what appeared to be a homemade suppressor for various rifles and handguns. After a search warrant was granted, deputies found items allegedly used to make explosive devices, three rifles, one handgun and suspected drug paraphernalia.
The ATF took possession of two commercial fireworks mortars, that appeared to have been altered, along with some detonation cord.
The investigation into the weapons and explosives is ongoing.
