The Ozark County Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting that took place at a home in Isabella around 6:20 Saturday.
The shooting victim, 41, suffered a wound to his chest and his name has not been released.
Chief Deputy Darrin Reed says, "There was an apparent argument at a home on HCR 2, the shooting victim had gone to the home, and was asked to leave several times. Reed says the man who shot the victim with a 38 pistol has claimed that he was assaulted by the shooting victim. After the victim was shot, the shooter immediately called for help. The caller said he had shot a man who was trying to get into his house.
The shooting victim was airlifted to St. John's in Springfield with injuries that required surgery.
Investigators are interviewing witnesses in the ongoing investigation. No charges have been filed.
