A former special education teacher in Taney County has been sentenced to ten years in prison for molesting a student.
A jury found Michael Hungerford, 54, of Powersite, guilty in February for molesting the girl at Forsyth Middle School in October of 2008. An eyewitness told investigators that Hungerford rubbed her between the legs with his fingers in his classroom.
Hungerford, who had been a longtime employee of the school district, was immediately placed on leave when allegations of the impropriety surfaced. He tendered his resignation several days later.
Attorney Steve Meier says he will "file an appeal immediately."
