A Nixa police officer looking for a 29 year-old man who ran away from a mental health treatment center solved the missing man's disappearance and also nabbed an alleged bank robber at the same time.

Nixa police Chief James Bacon says that at about 9:46 a.m. Officer Jon Huff was looking for a man who bolted from Life Enhancement Company when he noticed someone matching the missing man's description walk into Great Southern Bank on Missouri 14 not far from City Hall.

Bacon says the officer met the man as he was exiting out the door after the bank had been held up. Knowing he'd been caught, the man reached in his pocket then threw the stolen loot in the air. Several seconds later a silent alarm was triggered by bank personnel. Bacon says the robber didn't show a weapon but handed the teller a note that said he had a gun.

The unnamed man is being held on a 24-hour hold in the Christian County jail pending the filing of federal charges, according to Bacon.
